Tom Harvey is a Jackson Square Artist in New Orleans. His main focus is heavily layered abstract paintings and mixed media collage paintings.

He also enjoys digital collage art, introducing an integration of photographic and digital manipulation.


"I usually start with an emotion or message I’d like to convey, without the limitations of language. As I lay down different textures and washes, nature collaborates with me in a call and response that fuels the direction of the paintings. Being a musician and DJ as well as a visual artist, music influences the impulses within the paintings. They are process intensive and it’s common for 10 or 20 layers to manifest in the work. The techniques and materials I use make them come to life, using different finishes, metallics, acrylics, washes, glitter and even the blackest black on the planet! To complete the communicative process, they need a viewer. They change as you walk by, dancing and winking, enticing you to play, to interact and participate.
